Arletta M. Gates

Arletta M. Gates, 86, of Canton passed away Friday, August 2nd, 2013. Arletta was born in Freeland, MI on September 16, 1926, the daughter of the late Harvey and Catherine (Schwalm) Hill, also preceded in death by her husband William  Gates, two sisters and five brothers.  Employed as a telephone operator at the Massillon State Hospital for 15 years retiring in 1990. A member of the Grace Brethren Church of North Canton.

Survived by a daughter Sharon Miller of North Canton; two sons Timothy (Rosemary) and Jack Rexrode both of Canton; seven grandchildren, twenty-three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.  Arletta was most certainly a servant of Jesus Christ. It was evident in how she interacted with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and even her great-great grandson! She was a prayer warrior for them, friends, neighbors and shut-ins. You couldn't have a conversation with her without hearing how her heart was burdened for others. She loved getting visits, phone calls and cards, and was faithful in sending cards to others. She loved, gardening, baking, cooking, playing the organ, singing and writing poetry. She was a Godly example to many and has left a wonderful legacy behind. Arletta is now fully whole and at peace with her Lord whom she loved with all her heart!

Funeral Services will be held in the Canton Baptist Temple, 515 Whipple Ave NW, Canton 44708 at 11 AM on Friday, August 9th, with Rev. Delaney Young , grandsons Pastor Brandon "BJ" Boosz and Pastor Tom Eames officiating. Friends may call in the church Thursday from 6-8 PM and Friday one-hour prior to services. Burial in Warstler Cemetery.
