Aurelia Abraham, age 92, of Louisville, passed away peacefully Monday, January 24th, at St. Joseph Assisted Residence of Louisville.
Born in Canton on October 21, 1918, the daughter of the late Eremie and Elizabeth (Barson) Hanu, also proceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Victor Abraham, granddaughter, Becky Jean Branch, son-in-law, Clarence Branch, sister, Helen Sissea, two brothers, Auriel Hanu and Emil Hanu.
A lifetime member of St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral of Canton, served on its council and original building committee, former Financial Secretary, taught catechism, and a member of the senior citizens group. Former President of the S.f. Maria Ladies Auxiliary, lifetime member of D.A.V Auxiliary. During W.W.II, Aurelia was a "Rosie the Riveter" at the Burger Division of Republic Steel.
Survived by daughter, Florence Branch of E. Canton; son, Victor (Mary) Abraham of Gautier, MS. Grandchildren: Charlotte (David) Holden, of E. Canton, Mark (Kathleen) Abraham, of Ocean Springs, MS, Rita (Kevin) Garris, of Atlanta, GA, Steven (Susan) Abraham, of Kathleen, GA, Jean (Matthew) Yates, of Milton, GA, James (Valerie) Abraham, of Jackson, MS, Catherine Johnson, of Gautier, MS, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, Carol Hoge, of Anchorage, AK, Gloria Schuler, of Anthem, AZ, Elanie Macroglou, of Scottsdale, AZ.
Funeral Service will be held at St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral at 10 am on Thursday, January 27th, with Rev. Fr. Ovidiu Marginean officiating. Friends may call at the church Thursday 9 am till time of services. Interment at Forrest Hill Cemetery.
