Obituary

Blaine E Opel, Age 82, passed away, Sunday, January 30th, 2011 peacefully at Mercy Medical Center.

Born in Accident, Maryland on April 6, 1928, the son of the late Simon and Elsie (Bietzel) Opel, also preceded in death by brothers, sisters and his loving wife, whom he married on June 9, 1956, Dolores (Crislip) Opel, who died July 17, 2008.

Blaine retired in 1990 after 42 years with Timken Company of Canton.  He was a member of Canton Baptist Temple and the American Legion of Canton.

Enlisting on January 18, 1952, Blaine was a Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal in the US Army.

Blaine is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (Charles) Harbaugh of Strasburg and  Brenda (David Guerrieri) Osborn of N. Canton, two sisters, Norma  Markley of Alaska and Mary Frye of Grantsville, Maryland; a brother, Bob Opel of Alaska; two granddaughters; Stephanie and Jennifer Osborn, one step-grandson, Daniel Harbaugh, four step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home, at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 2nd, with Rev. Delaney Young officiating.

Friends are invited to call Tuesday 6-8pm., and one hour prior to services on Wednesday in the funeral home.  Interment will be at Union Cemetery Louisville.
