Obituary

Brian L. Gero, 79, of Louisville passed away on August 4, 2026 after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born January 19, 1947, he is preceded in death by his parents Ruthie and Richard Gero. Brian was a 1965 graduate of East Canton High School. After high school, Brian served his country in the Army later returning home to receive a Bachelor's of Science degree from Walsh College. Brian was a long time employee of the City of Canton as a health inspector until he retired in 2021. He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years Patricia "Patty" (Andreini) Gero of Louisville; sister Joan (Mike) Lahmers; brother Steve (Cindy) Gero; step-children Scott (Tammy) Steiner; Jennifer (Scott) Fyffe; grandchildren Justin (Tara) Tizavich, Eric Steiner, Sydnee Fyffe and Nicholas Fyffe. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to Mercy Hospice for their gentle kindness during Brian's final days. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Stark County Humane Society or Mercy Hospice in memory of Brian Gero. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the Ward-Simchak Funeral Home on Friday, August 21 from 6pm-8pm. Inurnment with a private service will take place at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Sevill at a later date.
