Mccauley
August 13, 1955 – June 11, 2025
Chris A. McCauley, 69
Tuscarawas Township
Chris Allen McCauley, age 69, of Tuscarawas township, Stark County; passed away, on June 11th at 9:20am surrounded by his family, after a battle with aggressive cancer.
He was born on August 13, 1955 in Canton, Ohio to Jim and Betty McCauley. Chris grew up in a very loving, blue collar Irish-Italian American home filled with good food, a stubborn, yet tender disposition, and a strong sense of right and wrong.
Chris graduated in 1974 from Canton McKinley high school, where he enjoyed playing baseball and football and was told by his coaches he was one of the fastest runners/receivers. He also played bass guitar with his friends in a typical 1970 era "garage band" (Child) and worked with his father full time before graduating from high school. After high school graduation, he began his maintenance career, working for the North East Community Center, Mellet Mall and eventually Stark County Job and Family Services, where he retired in 2020. During his years at Stark County Job and Family Services as their maintenance director, he earned his professional certificates in maintenance engineering from Stark State and Ohio State University. Chris was respected and loved by his colleagues and entrusted to maintain all of the agency's buildings and assisted in all of their numerous renovations.
Like his father, Chris was a Jack of all trades, there wasn't much he couldn't do, and quick to help those who needed a hand. His Bible was hard work and strong work ethics. Anyone that knew Chris understood his love for fishing and being outdoors which he started doing with his family as a boy. He grew up fishing all over Ohio and parts of Canada with his family; eventually leading into his competitive side of winning tournaments, even though being on a lake was good enough for him.
He was protective of his family, whom he always wanted to share in his experiences. Chris enjoyed visiting new wineries and would get to be on a first name friend basis with the owner before leaving. No matter where he went Chris could make at least one new friend. He loved attending and participating in car shows with his PT Cruiser all over Ohio, going on vacations to the beach and was very meticulous with taking care of his home, yard and small vineyard. Despite the last 25 years of hapless seasons, he still watched and loved the Cleveland Browns and Indians.
Chris is proceeded in death by his parents, James and Betty(Falcone) McCauley, father-in-law, Jeff Carson, his maternal and paternal grandparents and his niece Lesley Maravakis and her children. He is survived by his best friend and love of his life for 45 years, Sharon (Carson) McCauley; his sister Vicky (Ron) Ratliff , sons Nicholas and Corey (Erica) McCauley, his Uncle Rich (Lena)Falcone and Aunt Sharon (Falcone) Harris, and his many nieces and nephew Nathan, Jim Girt, a close family friend he considered a son, close friends, neighbors and the family dog - Rudy.
Per Chris's request, a private celebration of life will be held at a later date for family and friends.
