Obituary

Dennis Carpenter, "Hard Luck", 72, passed away on Saturday, April 11th, at the Hanover House. Born in Massillon on July 22nd, 1953, he was the son of the late Donald and Evelyn (White) Carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter Carrie Lyn, and his beloved wife, Mary Carpenter. Known to many by his nickname "Hard Luck," Dennis embraced life with grit, humor, and a spirit that couldn't be slowed down. He spent much of his life as a dedicated truck driver, finding both purpose and peace behind the wheel. The road wasn't just his job-it was his home, his freedom, and his way of life. When he wasn't driving, Dennis had a deep love for music, especially anything with strings. Guitars were among his greatest passions, and he found joy in their sound, their craftsmanship, and the stories they could tell without a single word. He also had a love for motorcycles, drawn to the same sense of freedom and brotherhood they represented. Dennis lived by the biker motto, "Keep your powder dry," a phrase that reflected his outlook on life-stay ready, stay strong, and face whatever comes your way. Survived by niece Lisa Cole; brother Keith (Kathy) Carpenter; as well as other loving family members and friends. Burial will take place in the Union Cemetery of Navarre.
