Donnie Mayle, age 73 of Canton, an inspiration to many, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2011, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  His strong faith and belief in God was evident he never gave up hope, fighting until the end, surrounded by the love of his family.

Born in Philippi, W.V., on September 6, 1937, to the late Sell and Essie (Croston) Mayle.

Donnie was a man of great character and a friend to everyone he met.  He was the most selfless of people, always putting others' welfare before his own.  He helped people whenever he could, not wanting any recognition for his efforts.

Carolina, Kathy (Henline) Freeland and Lisa (Henline) Keener of W. Virginia, six step-grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren.  He is also survived by numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Donnie thought of his in-laws as family also.

Donnie's best times in life were those spent at home with his  family, his passion in life was restoring houses.   Donnie was blessed with six siblings; four brothers;  Glen Mayle of Philippi, WV; the late Denver Mayle, Carney Mayle, and Wilbert "Bo" Mayle,  two sisters, Viette Male of Canton and the late Louise Collins.
