Doris Beatty of Massillon, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on Saturday, August 24, 2024. Known as Dee, our beloved mother, nana, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to many throughout her 76 years will be dearly missed.
Born in Beaver Falls to Ellis and Margaret Patterson, Dee grew up in Pennsylvania and graduated from Freedom High School, Class of 1966. She married Paul Edward Beatty in 1969 at Canton Presbyterian Church and they raised three children together. She worked at Timken Mercy for many years as an X-Ray, CT, and MRI technician.
Dee cherished and supported her family through thick and thin. She filled our plates with the best cooking around. From her signature rigatoni, homemade bread and pastas, to stuffed grape leaves – her meals were made expertly and with love.
Dee spent her final days at home, surrounded by tenderness and family. We are comforted to know that she is now reunited with loved ones who left this world before her, including her husband Paul who passed in 2005, her grandson Kyle who passed in 2023, and her cousin Jan Greene who passed away this year in February.
She is survived by her siblings - Walter Patterson (Carol) and Mary Barto as well as three children: Tracey Lynn Perez-Suarez, Paul Ellis Beatty, and Wendy Sue Beatty (Brian Minter).
Dee adored her grandchildren, Angela Marie Snyder (Marcel), Michael Eugene Kirl (Janice), Kyle Edward Beatty, Paul McClain Beatty (Cas'carrinthein Jackson), and Elliott Valiant Starling Minter. And she delighted in her great grandchildren: Benjamin Thomas Snyder and Sophia Ann Beatty
We'll carry her with us in our hearts the rest of our days and will think of her often – especially when making her recipes or watching Star Trek. And whenever a cat or friend needs to be rescued, we will follow her example of putting others first and doing what we can to make the world better.
A memorial will be held on Thursday, August 29, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Oak Knoll Park Pavilion, 610 Sixth Street SW, Massillon, OH 44647. In lieu of flowers, please bring pictures and memories of Dee as we celebrate the good times and remember her fondly despite our sadness.
