Obituary

Edward Stanton Prophet, 61, of Canton passed away on May 14 ,2026 at University Hospital, Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Canton, on March 23, 1965, he was the son of the late Dean and Etta (Perry) Prophet. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Valerie (Prophet) Gulley, and his brother Ira Prophet. Ed was a 1983 graduate of McKinley High School, and carried Bulldog pride throughout his life. He played football during his school years and was part of McKinley's memorable state championship in 1981. A proud United States Army veteran, he served his country honorably from March 31, 1984, to October 30, 1992, achieving the rank of Sergeant (E-5). A devoted sports fan, Ed found joy in cheering on his favorite teams, talking about games, and sharing the excitement that sports brought into his life. Whether celebrating victories or enduring losses, sports were more than entertainment to him - they were a connection to people, memories, and moments he cherished. Warm, friendly, and genuinely kind, Ed had a personality that drew people in and made them feel welcome. He got along with everyone, and because of that, he was deeply loved by so many. Survived by 2 daughters Anya Prophet, Tyler Prophet; 2 sons Shea Prophet, Jonas Prophet; sister Deborah Wilson; 2 brothers Mark Prophet, Geoffrey Prophet; 6 grandchildren DaVinci, CaNello, Jonesa, Marley, Lincoln and Legend Prophet; his favorite niece and nephew, Shainna and Justin Prophet; his brother-in-law Ben Gulley; as well as other loving family members and friends. A memorial service will be held in the Ward-Simchak Funeral Home on May 26 from 4pm-6pm.
