Ernest Chekan, 92, of Canton, passed away Friday, July 17th, at Alliance Community Hospital. Born in Canton on October 25, 1927, a son of the late Mary (Tolen) and George Chekan Sr., also preceded in death by his wife Mary (Stefanak) Chekan in 2019, sister Margaret Garren, 2 brothers George Chekan Jr, and Albert Chekan. A member of the former St. Paul's Catholic Church, he was employed for 52 years in the electrical maintenance department for 52 years before retiring in 1999. Survived by sister-in-law Sophie Michel; as well as several nieces and nephews. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11AM on Thursday, July 23rd in the Christ the Servant Catholic Parish with Rev. Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano officiating.
