Eugene E. "Chappy" Chapanar, 85, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, September 18th, at the Canton Regency following a lengthy illness. Born in Canton on April 7, 1933, the son of the late Daniel and  Ann (Tampian) Chapanar. Also, preceded in death by his wife Lorislee "Patt" Chapanar whom passed away in 2013. Served as a Sergeant for Canton Police Department for 25 years and had also served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. A member of the VFW Post 7490,   American Legion 548, and was also the founder of Chapanar's AAA Key and Lock Service. Survived by 2 daughters Melodee "Micky" (Bruce) Kungle, Sandi Lee Carnes; son Daniel (Kathy) Chapanar; 3 grandchildren Stephanie Chapanar and fiancee Eric Layne, Gregory (Shamela) Chapanar, Brandon Carnes; 3 great-grandchildren Kayli Settles, Gregory Chapanar Jr., Leilah Chapanar; great-great-granddaughter Vannah Thomas; and  his beloved companion cat Francie. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 21, 2018 at 1PM in the St. George Romanian Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Ionel Satnoianu officiating. Friends may call from 12 noon until time of service. Burial will take place in the East Nimishillen Church of the Brethren Cemetery.
