Frederick "Fred" Howard Schumacher, 77, of North Canton, passed away Tuesday, March 25th at the Cleveland Clinic. Born in Canton on September 21, 1947, a son of the late William H. and Bernice (Anstine) Schumacher. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by brother William "Bill" C. Schumacher. Fred graduated from Culver Military Academy where he lettered in football, basketball, and tennis. He then went on to attend Bowling Green State University, where he met his future wife, and graduated with a business degree in 1969. Following graduation, Fred assumed a role in the family business, F.E. Schumacher Co., Inc. where he remained his entire career. Fred found joy in playing tennis, golf, and platform tennis at Congress Lake Club. He was an avid fan of all Cleveland professional sports and Ohio State football. Fred is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Sandy (Battista) Schumacher; daughter Anne (Brian) Livingston, of Loveland, Ohio; brother John F. (Anne) Schumacher, of Sarasota, Florida; 2 grandchildren Ellie and Jack; brother-in-law Jim (Linda) Battista; sister-in-law Kay Schumacher; mother-in-law Mary Battista, several nieces and nephews as well as other family members and friends. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, April 4th from 11Am until 1PM in the Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow.
