IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Genevieve Mae
Kurian
November 21, 1924 – April 11, 2024
Born 11/21/1924 to Emdon Wason Lynde & Nellie Morrow Lynde, Genevieve (Gennie) grew up in Cleveland, OH, graduated from Collinwood High school, and married Raymond R. Kurian in 1945. They lived in Willoughby Hills OH and had 3 children.
Divorced in 1959, Gennie raised the children on her own. To make ends meet, she took a position at the J.C. Penney Company at Great Lakes Mall in Mentor, OH where she started as a floor clerk and, after 30+ years, retired from a mid-management position in 1993.
Prior to retirement Gennie realized a life-long dream -- to own her own home, which she purchased in 1986 in Painesville, OH. Over the next 18 years she and a longtime friend, Carl Bradshaw, refurbished the place from top to bottom. She loved to garden and planted many trees, shrubs, and extensive flower beds. She kept busy!
Gennie loved to collect antiques, enjoyed quilting, and read voraciously. She also took in a goodly number of stray cats.
Due to health concerns, Gennie moved to the Canton OH area in 2004 to be near her daughter. There, she purchased a 2nd house in Plain Township where she lived until health issues forced her to relocate to St. Luke's Home for the Aging in North Canton, OH in March 2020.
Gennie passed away April 11, 2024 due to complications from a fall on Easter that fractured her arm. She was preceded in death by her son Kenneth Alan Kurian, and is survived by son Raymond Robert Kurian Jr. and longtime caregiver daughter Kristine Kurian.
Gennie's Ashes will be scattered among the flower beds she enjoyed so much.
