George A. (Al) Penix

George A. (Al) Penix, 83, of Canton passed away Thursday, February 9th, following a lengthy illness at Aultman Hospital.

George was born in Blaine, Ky. on May 8, 1928, the son of the late Franklin and Tess (Hayes) Penix,  preceded in death by a daughter Dale L. Humphrey and a brother Kenny Penix.

Employed by  the Timken Co.  for 38 years retiring in 1987 as a piercing mill operator .
Member of the Eagles Lodge Aerie 2374 of Louisville,  the VFW Post 3747 of Canton, and served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman First Class during WW II.

Also preceded in death by his wife Roberta J. "Bobbie" (Anderson) Penix , who died on Nov. 9, 1999.

Survived by  a son Robert F. (Pamela) Penix of Canton;  special companion Mary McCord of the home; 2 grandchildren Nicole and Robert Penix, a great-granddaughter Zoey Penix ; 2 sisters Pearline Kirkpatrick of Canton; Betty Greene of Bakersville, NC; and a brother Dale Penix of Carrollton.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM on Monday, February 13th. in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Roger Kirkpatrick officiating.  Friends may call on Sunday 4-6 PM and on Monday one hour prior to services.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice. Burial in Sunset Hills Burial Park at a later date. Add your condolences on our website at waltner-simchak.com.
