George W. Suma, 74, of Canton, passed away Thursday, March 30th, at Aultman Hospital following a lengthy illness. Born in Canton on October 13, 1942, son of the late George and Mary (Matronia) Suma. Employed as a grinder in the steel mill division of the Timken Co., of Canton, for 37 years retiring in 2001. A member of St. George Romanian Catholic Catherdral of Canton and its Carpathian Men's Club, Knights of Columbus Council #554 of Massillon, Canton Lincoln Alumni Association and served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 in Germany. George enjoyed gardening and yardwork and was an avid Cleveland sports fan. Survived by his wife Rodica (Ganga) Suma, married November 21, 1980; son Christopher Suma; last surviving uncle Cornell (Louise) Matronia, all of Canton; along with numerous beloved cousins.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, April 4th at 10 am in the St. George Romanian Catholic Cathedral of Canton with Very Rev. Fr. Ovidiu Marginean officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, April 3 from 6-8 pm, also in the church where a Saracusta service will be held at 7:30pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the church.
