Helen J. (Drenta) Ulmschneider

Helen J. Ulmschneider, 77, of Canton passed away Saturday, March 31st, after a brief illness with close family members by her side.

Helen was born on May 5, 1934 in Canton to the late Charles and Helen (Soflata) Drenta.  She graduated from Middlebranch High School in 1952 where she participated in may school activities, one of which was as a majorette in the marching band.  After graduation she married and became a full time mother, raising three young sons.  She devoted her life to this mission and worked at various employments.  She recently retired from the Job and Family Services Agency in Canton.

Helen's past years were spent enjoying her time at the Carriage Hill Apartments with her many lady friends, Alice, Betty, Annette, and special friend Margie and their regular card games and social activities. She was a lifetime member and supporter of the Plain Local Alumni Association.
She will be remembered for her engaging smile, her caring for others and most of all her never ending desire to give and do for her relatives and friends.  Her often requested special home made potato salad for family picnics will be missed.

Survived by sons John (Donna) Ulmschneider of Ft. Myers, FL., Charles (Angie) Ulmschneider of Broken Arrow, OK., Robert (Jean) Ulmschneider of Ocean Spring, MS.; brothers Charles Drenta of Key West, FL., and Victor (Darlene) Drenta of Canton; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

As per Helen's wishes there are no calling hours.  A life celebration service will be held for family and friends on her birthday, Saturday, May 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM in the Zion United Church of Christ, 415 South Main St., N. Canton with the Rev. Roy Wagner officiating.  Final resting place will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Add your condolences on our website at waltner-simchak.com.
