Ida V. Newman

Also known as Ida Hill Stokes Newman, Betty Hill and Granny, 94, of Canton passed away on Wednesday, October 30, at her residence following a lengthy illness.

Ida was born in Utica on February 5, 1919, the daughter of the late Theodore Valentine and Edith (Baker) Brinkman Preceded in death by three husbands, Daniel Hill, Robert Stokes and Frederick Newman; one daughter Theresa Stokes; son Daniel Hill; two granddaughters, one great-granddaughter and one great-grandson. A homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother with a passion for riding motorcycles who wouldn't miss a game of bingo no matter the circumstances. She is survived by two daughters Rosemary Hill (Thomas) Grant, Rhianon Nottingham Stokes, two sons Darrell (Angel) Hill and Vincent (Tracella) Hill, all of Canton; sister Mary Kummbler of Cincinatti. Also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home at 6 PM on Tuesday, November 5, with Pastor Ronald Mayle officiating. Friends may call Monday, 6-8 Pm and Tuesday, 4 pm til service time also in the funeral home. Burial will take place on Wednesday in Wilson Cemetery of Newark.
