James B. (Papa) Shaffer, 86, of Akron, passed away Saturday, November 16th. Born in Youngstown, on June 11, 1938, a son of the late Harold and Elsie (McHugh) Shaffer. Besides his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife Marlene (Pahel) Shaffer, 2 daughters Elizabeth Williams, Belinda Shaffer, 2 grandsons Dennis Lehman, Christian Moretti, 2 brothers Harold (Dutch) Shaffer, Elmore (Moe) Shaffer, 3 sisters Sharon Moison, Carole Burke, Margaret Ruess, sister-in-law Jackie Shaffer, and 2 brother-in-laws Robert Burke, Joseph Ruess. James' faith and love for God shined through his interactions beyond family. He was a member of the former Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church of Youngstown. James lived his life as a true testimony to Gods love, the love and commitment to his family extended beyond his immediate family. James retired from LTV Steel, formally know as Youngstown Steel Sheet and Tube. Survived by 2 daughters Cheryl L. Watt of Tuscarawas, Susan Shaffer of Akron; 4 sons James (Debbie) Shaffer, Jeff (Pat) Shaffer all of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Eric (Christina) Shaffer of Vienna, Ohio, Clarence Shaffer of Austintown; brother Jack (Tina) Shaffer of Poland, Ohio; sister-in-law Loretta Shaffer; brother- in-law Daniel Moison, a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great- great grandchildren as well as many other family members and friends. A Memorial Service will be held in the Gibson Heights Second Presbyterian Church, 755 E Dewey Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44502 on Thursday, December 5th at 11 A.M with Pastor Richard Lintz officiating.
