James Eugene Huff. Age 95, of Canton, passed away Thursday, February 17th, 2011 peacefully at Emeritis Assisted Living of Canton.
Born in E. Canton, on March 27, 1915, to the late Earl Huff and Mary (Sibert) Huff Berry, also preceded in death by his sister Ethel Wilson and nephew David Wilson. He graduated from McKinley High School in 1933 and served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He retired from the U. S. Postal Service in 1974 , as a Supervisor at Station A, after 33 years of service.
He married Marie E. Runkle on May 8, 1937, and celebrated 73 years of marriage together.
Jim was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, active in the Gideons, AARP, and is a past master of Canton Masonic Lodge #60. He enjoyed playing cards golfing, and flying his airplane. He made a hole-in-one at age 81 and piloted a para-plane at age 76. He enjoyed wintering with his wife, Marie, in McAllen, TX for 30 years.
Survived by his wife, Marie, son James (Ann) Huff, Jr. of Canton, 3 Grandchildren, Deborah A. Huff, of Canton, Kathleen (Steven) Clay, of Canton, and Lisa (Kevin) Garner, of Fairlawn, 4 Great-Grandchildren, Brianna, Elijah, Moriah, and Joshua Clay all of Canton.
Funeral Services will be held at the First Church of the Nazarene, on Sunday, February 20 at 2:30pm with Mike Dennis officiating. Friends are invited to call at the church also on Sunday from 1:30 until time of services.
