James Franklin Tongret, 79, of Canton, passed away Saturday, March 9th, at Aultman Woodlawn Compassionate Care Center. Born in Belmont, Ohio on June 21, 1944, a son of the late Irvin and Hetty (Winn) Tongret, also preceded in death by 2 sisters Janet and Anna, 2 brothers Wilbur and Thomas. Employed for over 30 years as a conductor for Conrail Railroad before retiring and was also the owner of Jim's Roofing for 16 years before retiring also. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam Conflict. Jim was a loving grandfather and a friend to many. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Carol A. (Trombino) Tongret; 2 daughters Tammy Tongret, Deanna Tongret; sister Mary Walker; brother Irvin Stuart Tongret; 5 grandchildren Isabelle Tongret, Andrew Mayle, Sean Mayle, Justin Mayle, De'Shon Johnson; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous other family members and friends. No services will be held at this time.
