It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean Delores Swinehart, 71, of Canton, Ohio. Jean passed away at home surrounded by family on August 8th, 2025 after a long battle with cancer. Jean was a loving mother, grandmother, and a beautiful soul. Jean was born on November 29th, 1953 to Bruce and Patricia (Heidy) Smythe. Jean graduated from Orrville High School in 1971. Jean had a profound sense of humor, warmth, and creativity with an outgoing and very spirited nature. In her younger years, she enjoyed baby sitting. During her lifetime, Jean held various positions working outside the house. In her later years and up to the time of her passing, she was nanny to two of the most precious boys to ever enter her life, Levi and Wyatt. Jean also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, anything Christmas, cooking, decorating, crafting, and going out to eat at new places. Jean is survived by her soulmate, Terry Kind; her children, Richard (Indy) Shoup and Ronald (Tracy) Shoup; grandchildren, Riley Shoup, Molly Shoup, and Justin Miller; and siblings, Lynda (Lee) Dannemiller, Kenneth (Susan) Smythe, Ann (Gary) Dodds, and Carol (Craig) Cayhoe; and her personally adopted family, Crist, Cheyenne, Levi, and Wyatt Hershberger. Jean was preceded in death by grandparents, Eugene and Elsie Heider and Parka and Viola Smythe; parents Bruce and Patricia Smythe; sister, Dee Dee Boggs; uncle and aunt, William and Marjorie Heidy; cousin, Robert Heidy. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 13th, from 3pm to 6pm at the Knights of Columbus banquet hall, 132 S. Buckeye Street, Wooster, Ohio.
