Joanne Marie (Urdea) Mailat, 82, of Canton, passed away Monday, November 22nd, in her home. Born in Alliance on October 24, 1939, a daughter of the late John and Verna (Gligor) Urdea. A member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church of Canton, she attended Wittenburg University and the Ohio State University where she was a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. After completing her studies, she taught French I, II, III, and IV at Canton South High School and the former Glenwood High School. She was also a member of the College Club of Canton. Survived by loving husband Chuck D. Mailat, married August 20, 1961; son Doug Mailat, of Buffalo, New York and 2 grandchildren Bravery Mailat-Foley and Savannah Mailat. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, November 27th in the Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, 2027 18th St NE Canton, OH 44705, with Rev. Fr. John Kennerk officiating. Calling hours will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, November 26th in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home where a Pannikhida service will be held at 7:30. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery.
