John Corcodel, 87, of Louisville passed away at Mercy Medical Center on Thursday, April 7th, 2011 suddenly following an accident. John was a member of St. George Romanian Orthodox Church of Canton.
In 1985, after more than 30 years of dedicated service, John retired from the Ford Motor Company, where he worked as a Tool and Die Maker. A Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force during WW II, he was awarded the W.W.II Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal.
Born in Martins Ferry on June 13, 1923, the son of the late John and Elizabeth Corcodel, John is also preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude (Stocker) Corcodel in April, 2006, and his two sisters. Survived by his daughter, Julie (Nick) Sandru, a son George (Allyson) Corcodel, Granddaughters Alexis (Scott) Schwartz, Leah (Greg) McIntyre, Great Grandchildren; Brayden and Devin Schwartz, Case and Grey McIntyre.
Funeral Service will be held 10 am on Monday, April 11th, at St. George Romanian Orthodox Church, 144 30th Street NW, Canton, with Very Rev. Fr. George J. Treff, Very Rev. Fr. Panteleimon Stanciu and Rev. Fr. Ian Pac-Urar officiating. Friends are invited to call 5-8pm Sunday and one hour prior to services on Monday in the church, where a Saracusta Service will be held at 7:30pm, Sunday. Burial in Forest Hill Cemetery.
