John Lungociu

John Lungociu, 86, of Canton passed away on Thursday, May 15, in the Bethany Nursing Home of Canton following a brief illness. John was born in Glassport, PA on February 5, 1929, the son of the late Neculae and Aurelia (Streza) Lungociu, also preceded in death by his wife Virginia (Comsia) Lungociu, died April 30, 1996.

He was employed as a property manager for many years, served in Germany from 1951-1953 with the U.S. Army and was a long-time member of St. George Romanian Orthodox Church of Canton.

He is survived by step-son George (Maggie) Zugrave Jr. of Akron; three brothers Dr. Nicholas (Alice) Lungociu of Canton, George  Lungociu of Canton and David (Ruthanne) Lungociu of Navarre.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 19, at 10:00 AM in St. George Romanian Orthodox Church of Canton with Very Rev. Fr. George J. Treff officiating. Friends are invited to call on Sunday, May 18, from 5-8 PM where a Saracusta service will be held at 7:30 PM all in the church.  Burial in Forrest Hill Cemetery. Family requests tributes to the memorial fund of the church.
