John C. Veasey Jr., 79, of Canton, passed away Friday, December 10th, at Aultman Hospital. Born in Albany, Georgia on February 1, 1942, a son of the late John "Charlie" Sr. and Alma H. (Barfield) Veasey, also preceded in death by first wife Sandy Veasey, second wife Lilly Veasey, 3 sisters Ethel Shockley, Ruby "Jeannie Taylor, Elizabeth Barfield Eubanks, 3 brothers Tommy Barfield, Willie "Bunt" Barfield, and Luther "Bo" Barfield. Employed at Brookside Country Club for 30 years and served in the U.S. Army National Guard for 20 years. John fostered many children over the years and poured out so much love and kindness. Survived by daughter Diane Veasey; son John (Shannon) Veasey; foster son Shaun Reis; sister Lula Barfield Holt; grandson Jaxx; special friend Benny Taylor; along with many nieces; nephews; loving family members and friends in Georgia. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Thursday, December 16th in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home. Calling hours will be held one our prior to services. Burial will take place in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
