Obituary

Joseph E. Baxter, Sr., 71, of Carrollton, passed away Saturday, May 20th, at Aultman Hospital. Born in Carrollton, on October 28, 1951, a son of the late Wayne and Martha (Moore) Baxter, also preceded in death by son Jason Wayne Baxter and brother Jerry Baxter. Employed for many years as a truck driver before retiring and working part time for Guess Motors, he was a member of the Eagle Aerie 2185 of Carrollton. A self proclaimed "bass master", he enjoyed fishing, building model cars, country music, Wheelhorse tractors, and most of all, spending time with his beloved wife and family. He is survived by his wife of 34 years Barb Baxter, known to Joe as "Peachy"; 6 daughters Barbara (Ron Lute) Reed, of New Philadelphia, Jeannette (Rick) Leidner, of Paris, Ohio, Tina Melville, of Richmond, Ohio, Crystal (Doug) Pickens, of Carrollton, Kandi (Mike) Richard, of Canton, Robin (Glenn) Hanshaw, of Carrollton; son Joseph E Baxter Jr., of Navarre; 4 sisters Betty Ann Baughman, of Texas, Darlene McCarty, Donna (Butch) Johnson, all of Carrollton, Joyce Baxter, of Tappan Lake; brother Larry (Bonnie) Baxter, of Uhrichsville; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; 4 legged best friend Charlie; as well as numerous nieces; nephews; family members; and friends. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
