Kenneth Nonnemacher, 92, affectionately known as "Grandad," passed away on Sunday, Septembre 20, 2026. Born in Saucona, Pennsylvania on February 18, 1934, he was the son of the late Wallace and Hattie (Hill) Nonnemacher. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy (Trach) Nonnemacher, 4 brothers and 4 sisters. Kenneth was a smart, hardworking, and determined man who took great pride in the life he built and the work he accomplished throughout his years. He dedicated 31 years of his career to Bechtel Corp., where he worked in the construction of nuclear power plants around the world. His work took him to many places, including Saudi Arabia, giving him the opportunity to see and experience different parts of the world while doing work he was proud of. Kenneth was known for being hardheaded and never afraid to stand his ground. He was a man who liked to stay busy and was always willing to tackle a project. He enjoyed woodworking and could often be found fiddling with wood, building or fixing things, and putting his hands to work. He also enjoyed construction and took pride in being able to figure things out and get the job done. Outside of his work and hobbies, Kenneth was a member of Trinity 710 Masonic Lodge and was affiliated with Maryland Avenue Baptist Church of Canton. His faith and community connections were an important part of his life. Kenneth will be remembered for his intelligence, strong-willed nature, hardworking spirit, and the many things he built and accomplished throughout his life. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. Survived by 2 daughters Gail (Paul) Becke, Greta Nonnemacher; sons Gary (Lori) Nonnemacher; 5 grandkids; 3 great-grandchildren; as well as other loving family members and friends. Calling hours will be held in the Ward-Simchak Funeral Home on Thursday, September 24, 2026 from 11am-12pm, followed by a Masonic Service at 12:00 p.m. A funeral service will then be held at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Gardens of Louisville.
