Manuel "Billy" Fontes, 78, passed away peacefully at home on January 30. He was born in Canton, Ohio on April 28, 1944, to Christian and Vivian Fontes. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Edward and Julio, and his sister, Carol Massey, and sister-in-law Mary.
Surviving him are his children: Chrissy Roue, Tony (Anya), Dortecia (Rashu) Jeffries, Sherri (Clyde) McCrae, and Chance Gardner, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and his siblings: Adelino, John, Richard (Rosemary), Marie Pride, Sonja (Tyrone) Nance, and Anna Marie (Carlton) Williams, and sister-in-law Mamie, and his life-long friends, the N.E. End Five: Sonny Mendes, Ronnie Isles, Steve Perry, and Felton Norwood.
Billy was a die-hard McKinley fan and could often be found supporting his team and family at various athletic events. He will be remembered as a beloved brother, father, grandfather, cousin, uncle, and friend.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 3rd in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Pastor George Lancaster officiating. Friends and family may call 2 hours prior also in the funeral home.
