Margaret L. Tavares, 85, of Canton passed away Friday, August 24th, in Aultman Hospital.

Margaret was born in St. Clairsville, Ohio on November 25, 1926, the daughter of the late Harvey and Anna (Monroe) Wilson, also preceded in death by husband Manuel R. Tavares Sr., daughter Toni J. Williamson (Tavares), 2 sisters and 2 brothers.  She was a member of The Living Word Christian Fellowship, had played softball for many years for the NAACP, and was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker.

Survived by children Manuel R. (Mary) Tavares Jr. of Painesville, Nicki "Frannie" Tavares of Canton, Regina (Reggie) Tavares of Canton, Clara "Lanie" Rushin of Covington, GA, Jon "Turk" Tavares of Canton, Holiday "Holly"  Tavares of Canton, a sister Clarabell Jefferson;  grandchildren Margaret Ann (George), Carlos, Keena, Derek, Brianna, Leon, Stacy, Kevin, Kimberly, Emani, David, Reginald and Paul "PJ"; 17 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; many special friends eager to help out including Marian Kelley and Irene Bentley.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, August 30th, 12:00 Noon at The Living Word Christian Fellowship, Canton,  with Rev. Pastor Howard M. Robinson Jr. officiating.  Friends may call also on Thursday  10 AM till time of service. Burial,  Calvary Cemetery, Massillon.
