Marti J Mayers, 53, of Massillon, passed away Tuesday, July 29th, in Massillon, Ohio. Born in Massillon, on April 13, 1972, a daughter of Barbara (Shiock) Southerland and the late Jeffrey Mayers. Besides her father she is preceded in death by sister Julie Mayers, paternal grandparents Merle (Mary) Mayers, maternal grandparents John (Jean) Shiock of Pennsylvania. Marti courageously fought a 10-year battle with ALS, during which she was lovingly cared for by her devoted significant other Chris. She attended Stark State College where she earned her associates degree in Human services, she then went on working toward her bachelor's degree at Akron University. Marti was also the proud owner of MJ Cake Lady, a small cake-baking business that reflected her passion and creativity in the kitchen. She was a loving and dedicated mother who found joy in many simple pleasures. Marti loved to clean, care for her plants, and spend time doing arts and crafts. She also enjoyed watching The First 48, Paranormal Shows, Ancient Aliens, and Modern Family. Marti will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of loving and knowing her. Survived by her significant other of 29 years Christopher Rhymes; 2 daughters Samantha Swallow, Kristia Mayers; son NaShawn Pryor; grandson Brayden Mayers; brother Ian Mayers as well as many aunts including special aunt Andrea Shiock, uncles, nieces, nephews, family members and friends. No services will be held at this time.
