Melinda "Linda" Dalton, 71, of Canton, passed away Monday, May 31st, at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Philippi, West Virginia on August 3, 1949, a daughter of the late William Jack and Norene (Croston) Post, also preceded in death by sister Jackie Sue Dalton and infant siblings Nina Lee, Albert Joseph and William Franklin. She was a member of the Canton Freewill Baptist Church. Survived by her husband Fawnsworth "Fonzie" Dalton; 3 children Lisa Dalton, twins Diana Cummings and David Dalton; 3 sisters Joyce "Judy" Post, Rebecca (Donnie) Mayle, Connie (Rick) Stewart; 3 brothers David Post, Rickey Post, Bill Moses (Jodi) Post; 6 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several nieces; nephews; family members; and friends. Funeral services will be held at 4PM on Saturday, June 5th in the Canton Freewill Baptist Church with Pastor Anthony Mayle officiating. Friends may call from 2PM until time of services. Burial will take place at 11AM in the Norris Cemetery of Philippi, WV on Monday, June 7th. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to her church.
