Michael Shrum, 67, of Massillon, passed away Sunday, May 1st, at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Canton on August 20, 1954, a son of Ruth (Barton) and the late Theodore Shrum. A former heavy weight champion of Stark County, he was also a Golden Glove boxer, avid billiard player, hunter, fisherman and proud father. Besides his mother he is survived by daughter Chanda (Joseph) Thompson, of Minerva; son Michael (Tammi) Shrum, of East Canton; 2 sisters Tamm Shrum, of Canton, Theodora Block, of Jacksonville, Florida; brother Tracy Shrum, of Middleton, Idaho; 4 grandchildren Hannah, Chanelle, Cameron, Jadynn; 2 great-grandchildren Shana, Sarai; special family friend Donna Bartrug and cousin that was his caregiver Hillary Johnson as well as other family members and friends. A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, May 16th from 11AM to 1PM  in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home.
