Obituary

Nelson J "Coda" Tavares Jr, 56, of Painesville, passed away Tuesday, March 5th, at Tri Point Hospital in Painesville. Born in Canton  on February 11, 1963, a son of the late Nelson Sr. and Daisy (Gomez) Tavares, also preceded in death by brother-in-law Lawrence Tharp Sr. He was a kind and fun loving person who made everyone feel good when they were around him. Coda had a sarcastic wit, and he was a vibrant storyteller with an infectious laugh that made others laugh upon hearing. He loved his family and had many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory 3 daughters Octavia Shipp, Sierra Humphries, both of Canton, Tiana Tavares, of Akron; 2 sons Anthony Wallace, DeAndre Tavares; sister Jacquelyn Tharp, all of Canton; 11 grandchildren; aunt and uncle Donna and Charles Gomez Sr; 2 nephews; 1 niece; 2 great-nephews; 2 great-nieces; 1 great-great-nephew; along with many loving cousins; family members and friends. A memorial service will be held at 1PM on Wednesday, March 13th at Waltner - SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Pastor Leroy Tavares officiating.
