Obituary

Nicholas Eakin, of Dover, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, July 13, 2026 at the age of 47. Born in Canton on August 4, 1978, he was the son of the late Richard Eakin and Amy (Corbett) Seaburn. In addition to his mom and father, he is also preceded in death by his dad Walter Seaburn. Nicholas worked as a chef at Benders Tavern, where his love of cooking shone in every dish. He didn't just prepare food-he created it. Friends and patrons alike cherished the care and imagination he brought to his work, always striving to make meals feel like something special. For Nicholas, cooking was both an art and a love language. Beyond the kitchen, Nicholas found equal joy in discgolf, music, and writing. He had a creative mind that seemed to find expression in everything he did, especially in his poetry. Nicholas loved to write-with a few poems being published. His poems reflected a deep sensitivity and a thoughtful way of seeing the world, leaving readers with more than just lines on a page, but something lasting to carry with them. Nicholas also loved the outdoors and especially looked forward to camping trips with his mom and dad. Those shared adventures with family were a highlight-times filled with laughter, stories, and the simple satisfaction of being outside together. He was also devoted to animals of all kinds. Nicholas and his family raised German Shepherds in both a kennel and through obedience training, pouring time, patience, and skill into helping dogs thrive. Nicholas took part in 4-H, where he worked with rabbits. Through 4-H, he learned responsibility, hands-on care, and the rewards of seeing something grow with consistent effort-values that he carried into all areas of his life. Survived by his brother Darrick (Holly) Eakin; nephew Steele Eakin; as well as other loving family members and friends. Services will be announced at a later date.
