Philip J. Bowling October 15, 1948 - July 3, 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Philip J. Bowling, age 77, of Akron, Ohio, on Friday, July 3, 2026.

Philip was born on October 15, 1948, to the late Sim Bowling and Zelda Bowling. He lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for his family.

To know Phil was to know a man with a gentle heart and a giving spirit. He was the kind of person who never hesitated to help someone in need, always offering a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. His greatest joy in life was his family, whom he loved fiercely and without condition. He was their biggest supporter, their protector, and the steady presence they could always count on.

Phil found happiness in life's simple pleasures. He enjoyed listening to good music, spending hours putting together puzzles, and, most of all, making memories with the people he loved. Whether gathered around the table, sharing stories, or simply enjoying each other's company, those moments with his family meant everything to him.

He is lovingly remembered by his children: Anna Rollyson; Michele Niemocienski and her husband, Bob; Brant Bowling and his wife, Lisa; and Sonja Bowling. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to 13 grandchildren and a cherished great-grandfather to 19 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in his heart.

He is also survived by his brothers, Darryl Bowling and his wife, Victoria, and Dwight Bowling and his wife, Bonnie, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

Philip was preceded in death by his beloved son, Jeremy Bowling; his parents, Sim and Zelda Bowling; and his sister, Pamela Bowling.

Although our hearts are broken, we are forever grateful for the love, wisdom, and compassion Phil shared throughout his life. His legacy is not only found in the family he adored but also in the countless lives he touched through his kindness, humility, and selfless nature. He leaves behind a lifetime of treasured memories that will continue to bring comfort and strength to all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Phil's life will be held at a later date. The family will announce details when they become available.
