Obituary

Raymond E. Peterman, 74, of Massillon, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, February 10th, surrounded by his loved ones in his home.  Born in Canton on March 31, 1947, a son of the late Kenneth and Mary (Brittsan) Peterman. Ray proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He was a member of Faith Community Fellowship church for over 20 years where he also served as an elder for several years. It was at church where he found his loving friends, especially the Tuesday night men's group and Wednesday night prayer group.  Ray was a member of AA having 30 plus years of being sober.  He enjoyed playing chess and pool, publishing videos on YouTube, ski trips, and vacations with friends and family to Disney World. One of his highlights was a mission trip he took with his church to Russia. Most importantly, he enjoyed spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren. He spent his entire working life owning his own businesses. Starting early in life in the antique business, from there he and his wife Deb owned a retail furniture store for over 20 years, then retiring from that but continued a business on Ebay. He has spent the last few years renovating homes with his wife and son.  Ray truly was a man of many talents who will be missed greatly by many. He will lovingly be remembered by his beloved wife of 48 years who has always been by his side Debra S.(Richards) Peterman; daughters Angel Peterman, of Canton, Laura (Michael) Miller, of Massillon; son Matthew (Michelle) Peterman, of Cleveland; 2 sisters Nancy (Norman) Miday, of Massillon, June Ann Anderson, of Georgia; grandchildren Dustin, Sari, Alexis, Peyton, Matthew and Mason; 4 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of Ray's life will be held March 31st at Faith Community Fellowship 1303 9th Street SW, Massillon at 11:00 am with Dr. David Kimberly and Pastor Michael Kager Jr. officiating. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Faith Community Fellowship Blessing account in Ray's name.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Aultman Hospice for their excellent loving care they gave Ray and the family during the 7 months under their care.
