Rettie  Newman

Rettie Newman, 72, of N. Canton passed away Friday, March 23rd, peacefully in Aultman Hospital, following a six months illness.

Rettie was born in Philippi, West Virginia on May 11, 1939, preceded in death by her mother Laura (Mayle) Croston, her husband Fred Newman who died on December 26, 1997, 5 sisters Sygurnie Newman, Miranda Mayle, Orleans Dalton, Isabella Newman, Evelenie Kennedy and 3 brothers Edgar, Jethro, Nickodemes Croston.

Survived by 2 daughters Peggy Mayle of Philippi, WV, Betty Newman of N. Canton;  sister Violine Kennedy of Philippi, WV;  brother Amon Croston of Canton, 2 grandchildren Michele (Gary) McCord, Matthew (Crystal) Mayle both of Philippi, WV, and a great-granddaughter Emma McCord.


Funeral Services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, March 28th, in the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home, Philippi, WV, with Rev. Terry Newman officiating. Friends may call on Monday 5-7 PM. in the  Waltner -SIMCHAK Funeral Home and Tuesday 2-9 PM. in the Stemple & Forman Funeral Home in Philippi. Interment in Welch Cemetery, Moatsville WV.
