Richard T. Bird Sr., 78, of Canton, passed away Friday, January 7th, at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Canton on January 16, 1943, a son of the late Frank and Geraldine (Clay) Bird, also preceded in death by daughter Barbara Eatherton and brother Jack Bird. A member of the U.S. Army, he was employed with The Timken Company as a machinist for 30 years before retiring. Survived by his wife Mary (Brittian) Bird; 2 daughters Michelle (Todd) Bird, Karen (Scott) Caley; 2 sons Richard Bird Jr.; Kenny Schuring; 2 brothers Frank Bird, Danny Bird; 7 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. A memorial service, where family and friends will be invited to share stories, will be held at noon on Saturday, January 15th in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home. Family and friends may gather one hour prior to the service also in the funeral home.
