Robert Ernest Schafer, 68, of Brewster, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family Wednesday, April 16th, at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Dover, on February 5, 1957, a son of the late Robert Daniel and Geraldine Mae (Evans) Schafer.  Besides his parents he is preceded in death by step father who he was very close to David Caldwell, sister Bonnie Caldwell, brother-in-law Gary Anderson. Robert was a volunteer firefighter for Brewster Fire Department and Beach City Fire Department for many years where he made many lasting friendships. He loved and cherished spending time with his family, he also enjoyed singing. Survived by loving wife of 49 years Carol Schafer; daughter Cindy (Jason) Herman; 2 sons Richard (Missy Fischer) Schafer, Philip Schafer; 3 sisters Barbara (Matt) Henry, Betsy (Ralph Griffith) Anderson, Beverly Schafer; 8 grandchildren Abigail, Drake, Emily, Alex, Gianna, Austin, Bella, Brady; 4 great grandchildren Braxton, Bentley, Maverick, Elouise, a great grandson on the way as well as many other family members and friends. A celebration of life will be held at the Beach City Fire Department -102 Main St. SW, Beach City, Ohio 44608- on Sunday April 27th from 1 PM - 3 PM. The Stark County Firefighters Association Last Alarm Service to be conducted at 3:00pm.
