Robert John Zelk, 79, of Canton, passed away Wednesday, May 4th, at Aultman Hospital. Born in Saginaw, Michigan on July 16, 1942, a son of the late Alice Zelk, also preceded in death by his loving wife of 49 years, Lucy Ann (Mayle) Zelk, died 6/13/2018; 2 sisters in law Marlene James, Virginia Smith; 3 brothers in law Jack, Roger and Ernie Mayle. He served in the U.S. Army National Guard as a Spc E4 and was employed as a driver for Logan Trucking Company in Canton, until retiring in 2009 and for many years was a radio DJ for WHLO in Akron and WNYN in Canton. Survived by daughter Lori (William) Holderbaum, of Massillon; 2 sons Jeremy Zelk, of Canton, Brian Zelk, of Charlotte, North Carolina; granddaughter Chelsea (Ryan) Lenox of Massillon and many nieces and nephews including special nephew Eddie Mayle, of Louisville. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Thursday, May 12th in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Mayle officiating. Friends and family may call 1 hour prior to services, also in the funeral home.
