Ronald Lee Abatangelo, age 76, of Canton, passed away Monday, November 7, 2011 in Mercy Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family.  Born on October 24, 1935 in Canton, Ronald was the only child of the late Lewis Anthony and Dorothy Edna (Colvin) Abatangelo, and was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Anthony Abatangelo.

He obtained his printing apprenticeship at The Pressman's Home in Tennessee in 1958. Ron and Shirley  later established The Printing Systems Co. of Canton, serving our area for thirty-three years. He received recognition and awards for his years as owner of the company for excellence in the business community.

Community involvement and patriotism were important to Ronald. He was a Navy veteran, serving in Company A132 aboard the U.S.S. Vega from 1955 to 1957 and his two sons followed in his footsteps by also serving our country in the US Army. He was also proud of his three grandsons who carried on his legacy and honorably served as Marines in Operation Iraqi Freedom.  He was involved with the Son's of Italy, a member of Catholic Order of Foresters and was a member of International Printers Association.

Ronald and his wife, Shirley Ann recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. He is survived by four daughters, Pamela (John) Criss of Canton, Cheryl (Bryan) Buhrman of Chandler, AZ, Teresa (Alex) Marinakis of Canton, Robin (Donald) White of Canton, two sons Richard (Anna) Abatangelo and David (Tina) Abatangelo, both of Canton, 15 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Ronald's life was one of dedication to his wife and family and his friendship to those he served in business. His legacy will continue to live on and will always be honored.

Friends may call on Friday, November 11 from 5:30-7pm in the Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home, following visitation at 7pm a Funeral Service will be held by Rev. Eric Foster of The Apostolics of Canton. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 12 at 9:30am in St. Anthony's Catholic Church with Fr. Tom Bishop officiating.  Interment in Sunset Hills Burial Park.
