Obituary

Ronald L. "J.R." Bayer, Jr., 42, of Canton passed away Wednesday, December 19th, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer in the Stone Crossing Care Center of Canton.

Ronald was born on May 5, 1970, in Canton to Donna J (Pickar) Bayer of Canton and Ronald Bayer Sr. of Dover.

J.R., as he was affectionately known, attended Timken High School. J.R. loved to cook, so after High School he cooked for local hotels and restaurants and later he went to work for Electorum of Massillon. His love for the outdoors led him to start his own lawn care business and in the winter months he plowed snow and worked at The Circle K of Canton.

J.R. lived and breathed garden tractor pulling and when he wasn't pulling his tractor he was the sled operator. He traveled to many county fairs, festivals and local benefits to share the sport with others he loved so much. J.R. also loved camping and was the leader of
Boy Scouts of America Troop 171 of Canton


Besides his parents, he is survived by his Grandmother Mariam Glee Bayer of Dover; Fiancé Janet Kohl; two sisters Lisa (Doug Foster) Capper, Tammi (Roger Rodgers) Shutler; three nephews, Micheal Capper, Andrew Shutler, Jonathan Foster; a great nephew, Carter Dadisman; two nieces, Sara (Fiancé Paige Dadisman) Capper, Amanda Rodgers; four stepchildren, Jennifer Eddy, Tommy Cox, Mark Kohl, Kristian Burkhart; three step-grandchildren; Kayleanna Kohl, Thomas (Tubby) Cox Jr., Heavynn Cox all of Canton; Aunt Barbara Limbacher of Strasburg; three uncles Rodney (Linda) Bayer of Strasburg, Kenny (Dayna) Bayer of New Philadelphia and his favorite uncle Denny (Marguerite) Bayer of Dover, his best friend Eric of Canton along with many other aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by his grandparents Leo and Naomi Pickar Sr. and Maurice Bayer.

He will be sadly missed by all his friends from The Strasburg Pullers Club.

Funeral Services will be held at 3pm Saturday, December 22nd in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Matthew W. Conley officiating, friends may call from 1pm till time of services.
