Roscoe Wix, 89, of Akron passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026. Born in Richland, VA on May 14, 1936, the son of the late John and Nannie (Fields) Wix. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son John Randy Wix, the mother of his children Janice M. Wix, 2 sisters Elizabeth and Virginia, as well as 4 brothers James, Hubert, David and Ralph Wix. Roscoe proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from October 22 ,1952 to October 12, 1962, attaining the rank of Specialist Fifth Class (SP5) before being honorably discharged on January 30, 1962. Following his military service, Roscoe dedicated 30 years of his career to Babcock & Wilcox, where he was known for his reliability and strong work ethic. He retired at the age of 50, marking the beginning of a new season of work and purpose. Roscoe went on to work as a car salesman for 5 years before spending 10 years working in security, continuing his lifelong pattern of service and responsibility. One of Roscoe's greatest joys was hiking the Towpath Trail. He walked the trail faithfully for many years, finding peace, strength, and contentment along its path. His commitment to the Towpath Trail endured well into his later years, and he continued hiking it until the age of 88, a reflection of his remarkable endurance and love for the outdoors. He is survived by 2 daughters Pamela (Jeff) Eisenbrei, Renee (Paul) Joliat ; 6 grandchildren Brandon, Beverly, Thomas, Michael, Benjamin, Gabriel; favorite niece Jeanette Webb; best friend Dolores Kolb; as well as other loving family members and friends.
