Sophie Ann Ventura

1940-2023

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and dear friend Sophie Ann Ventura passed away peacefully in her sleep on the morning of Monday, May 22nd at age 83. She was born to Jivco and Stephanka Nickoloff on March 25th, 1940, in Canton. Sophie grew up on Georgetown Road in the old neighborhood, where she attended Belden School and graduated from Timken High School in 1958. She was introduced by friends Ermanno and Cookie De Dominicis to Italo Ventura, whom she married in 1966. Sophie and Italo were married 52 years, and together raised two sons whom she loved dearly: James and Stephen. Nothing was of more importance to Sophie than her family. She was happiest spending time with her grandchildren, whom meant everything to her. Sophie will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all those fortunate enough to have known her. Her caring, humorous, and considerate nature will forever reside within the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jivco Nickoloff, her husband Italo Ventura, sister Nancy (Nickoloff) Sedon, and son Stephen Ventura. She is survived by her son, James (Susan Quilter) Ventura; grandchildren Daniel (Elizabeth), Sarah, and Andrew Ventura; and great-grandson Leo James Ventura. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, June 1st in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Russ officiating. Family and friends may call one hour prior.
