Theresa  Hammond



Theresa  Hammond, 66, of Canton passed away Saturday, October 13th, in the McKinley Health Care Center following a lengthy illness.

Theresa was born in Meridan, Mississippi on March 16, 1946, the daughter of the late Anebal (Adlonie) Rebeiro, and her birth mother Sallie Mae Calhoun.

Employed for 20 years as a travel agent for the AAA Auto Club of Canton retiring in 1995. A member of the former St. Paul's Catholic Church of Canton.

Survived by former husbands Derrick Averette, Mearl Hammond Jr. both of Canton with whom she shared 4 children; Theresa Averette of Canton, Carmen (Nana) Nantwi, Chelaise Burton both of Columbus, Adam Hammond also of Columbus;  3 sisters Marilyn (Dale) Boler-Downs of Barberton, Mary Helen Calhoun of Los Angeles, CA., Rosalee Calhoun of Chattanooga, TN.; 13 grandchildren LaChaela Brooks, Theresa Frazier, Kytonna Averette, Bryanna Frazier, Ayris Frazier, Delon Hammond, Brenton Frazier, Teonna Hammond, Derrick Burton, Chelaise  Burton, Terrell Burton II, Hollis Burton, Zachary Nantwi; and 5 great grandchildren Paris Chavers II, London Chavers, Zakia Coleman, Gemariah Brown, and Naomi Coleman.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, October 22, in the Christ The Servant Parish at Our Lady of Peace Church, 833-39th. Street NW, Canton, 44709, with Msgr. Lewis F. Gaetano officiating, friends may call 2 hours prior to services on Monday, also in the church.
