Victor J. Colaianni, Jr.
Victor J Colaianni, Jr., age 77, of Canton passed away Saturday, March 24, following a brief illness. Born August 15, 1934 in Vandergrift, PA to the late Marjorie and Victor Colaianni Sr., and spent most of his life in the Canton area.
Victor was an Army veteran, and an Army National Guard veteran, retiring from the OH ARNG in 1999. Employed by the East Ohio Gas Company for 30 years as a fleet auto mechanic, retiring in 1992. Victor was a past member of the Unique Club, Italian American Festival Committee, and more recently a member at St. George Romanian Orthodox Church of Canton, where he also served on the church council. He also spent many years in bowling leagues at Colonial Lanes, as well as volunteering time with various other organizations.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Helen (Serban) Colaianni and a brother Lt. Vincent R. Colaianni. Victor is survived by daughter, Lisa (Don) Ross of Pickerington; sons Vincent (Catherine) Colaianni of Keller, TX; and Victor (Sara) Colaianni III of Canal Fulton; Grandsons Billy, Jimmy, Durkin and Wyatt Ross; Michael and Steven Colaianni; and Lucas Colaianni - all of whom he was very proud of. Also surviving is special friend and loyal companion, Mary Ann Irimie of the home.
The family wishes to thank the staff of both Aultman Hospital and the Canton Regency for their care and support during recent weeks. Funeral Services will be held 10:00AM Thursday, March 29th. in St. George Romanian Orthodox Church with Very Rev. Fr. George Treff officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday March 28th. from 3-8 PM in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home, where a Saracusta Service will be held at 5:30PM. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flower donations can be made to St. George Romanian Orthodox Church.
