Virgil L. Powell, 82, of Canton, passed away Tuesday, April 17th following a lengthy illness. Born in Wheeling, WV on March 9, 1936, a son of the late Paul and Bertha (Caldwell) Powell; also preceded in death by his wife, Patricia (Frye) Powell, who passed away November 18th, 2002, a son Randall Powell, sister Regina Mae, brother Randolph Powell. Employed at Sugardale Foods of Canton for 32yrs retiring in 1987. Survived by 3 daughters Annette Gearry, of Wheeling, WV, Terry (Daniel) Simpson, of Rochester, WA, Judy Henderson, of Canton; son Joseph Powell, of Canton; sister Delores Shaw, of Dallas Pike, WV; 15 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held 1pm on Friday, April 20th in the Waltner - SIMCHAK Funeral Home in Canton with Bishop Marvin "Jack" Mayle officiating, friends may call 11am until time of services also in the funeral home.
