Virginia Lee "Ginny" Smith, 78, of Canton, passed away Saturday, January 8th, at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Philippi, West Virginia on April 1, 1943, a daughter of the late Ernest and Goldie (Croston) Mayle, also preceded in death by her husband Thomas E. Smith Sr.; 2 sisters Marlene (David) James, Lucy Zelk; 3 brothers Jack Mayle, Roger (Beverly) Mayle, Ernie Mayle, and half-brother Jimmy Mayle. Survived by 4 daughters Mary Smith, Allison Smith, both of Columbus, Janet Smith, of Canton, Jennifer (Amadou) Smith-Diallo, also of Columbus; son Thomas E Smith Jr., of Granville, WV; step-daughter  Cynthia Smith, of Canton; brother-in-law Robert Zelk; 3 half-sisters Annie Mayle, Jill Mayle, Debbie Mayle; 10 grandchildren Tierra, Dashayla, Kysha, Mahalia, Nathanueal, Adantay, Marycle, Crystal, Amadou, Rebecca; 5 great-grandchildren Malic, Carsyn, Ava, Chloe, Shakkur; step-grandchildren Trevon, John, Novia, and Charish. Funeral services will be held at Noon on Friday, January 14th in the Waltner-Simchak Funeral Home. Friends may call 2 hours prior to services. Burial will take place in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
