Obituary

William David Deitz, 83, of Canton, passed away Monday, December 29th, at St. Joseph Care Center, Louisville. Born in Poole, West Virginia on July 11, 1931. A member of Robertsville Wesleyan Methodist Church. Employed as a Welding Instructor and in the Maintenance Department at the Portage Lake Joint Vocational School, and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Preceded in death by his parents Wesley and Jessie (McClung) Deitz, wife Helen (Downin) Deitz died May 22, 2009, and his son-in-law Rick Miller. Survived by his daughter Beth Miller of Canton; son Mark (Lori) Deitz of Paris; four grandchildren Brent (Rachelle) Miller, Jeannie (Rev. Steve) Cassidy, Laura Deitz, David Deitz; two great-grandchildren Lilly and Lila; two sisters Edith Smith, of Louisville, Evalena Julian of Shawnee, Oklahoma;  two brothers Joseph Deitz of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Daniel Deitz of Mt. Lookout, West Virginia. Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Saturday, January 3rd in the Canton I Wesleyan Methodist Church, 1650 Broad Ave NW Canton, Ohio 44708, with Rev. Tom Haight and Rev. Steve Cassidy officiating. Friends may call Friday, January 2nd at 6-8 PM in the Waltner-SIMCHAK Funeral Home and one hour prior to services in the church on Saturday.
