William Bailey Vogel, 68, passed away Tuesday May 26th. Born in Indiana, Pennsylvania on September 23, 1946 to the late Paul Eugene and Frances (Bailey) Vogel. He spent most of his early years in North Carolina where he attended Walter Williams High School in Burlington and Elon University. From August 1968 to July 1969 he served as a combat infantryman in South Vietnam. Subsequent to his retirement he traveled extensively with his wife, Mauna, who survives him along with his beloved step-son, William Reed Gibson. Bill was an avid animal lover as is his wife. He loved English literature, history in general and the history of the Civil War in particular. Cremation has occurred, as well as a private gathering for the family.
